Orihuela Costa
 
This name is given to the general area from Mil Palmeras up to the salt lake to the south of Torrevieja, and is particularly favoured by golfers and visitors desiring a beach and sunbathing holiday.  N332 coast road runs along the south coast between Benidorm and Cartagena. The AP7 toll road/motorway inland of the coastal areas and is ideal for travelling to and from both Murcia and Alicante airports. 
 
All the properties we offer for rental in the Orhuela Costa region are perfectly situated for exploring the Costa Blanca area, from historic Cartegena to the south, through Torre Pacheo region of market gardens, citrus orchards and windmills, passing by La Manga with its wonderful long beaches where you will find various sporting and leisure facilities, golf, tennis, go-karting, bike hire, water sports etc. and restaurants and shops. A ferry runs across the Mar Menor between Thomas Maestro Port La Manga and Santiago de la Ribera near San Javier for those wishing to visit La Manga but not wanting to drive all the way around. Inland from the coast, enjoy Murcia city or Alicante for retail therapy, Elche for the wonderful palm forest, Benidorm with its four magnificent theme parks and the famous Benidorm Palace theatre. For the really adventurous, take the coast train from Benidorm all the way to Denia.
 
Mil Palmeras, as the name implies, is noted for palm-lined streets and lovely beaches.  The residential area includes lovely restaurants and an open market on Tuesday evenings.
 
Moving up the coast road towards Torrevieja, Campoamor is a quaint village on the Costa Blanca that boasts unspoiled beaches and vast green woodland area. It is no wonder that Campoamor translated literally means ‘fields of love’. It is also cited in history, particularly during the reign of the Spanish dictator Francisco Franco, who frequently visited the area for holidays. The picturesque beach has a range of facilities; including showers, restaurants and cafes, a first aid point and a life guard. The adjoining harbour enables bathers to participate in a range of water sports. 
 
As you approach La Zenia the famous evening entertainment strip begins, with bars, restaurants shops and a multitude of night life.  From here the area blends into Playa Flamenca, a thriving coastal area perfectly situated with beautiful beaches.
 
Visitors who prefer a quiet and restful holiday environment will be happier away from the hustle and bustle of the immediate coast. Las Ramblas is an exclusive area situated around a large golf course. The majority of properties overlook the fertile green course with its thriving flora and fauna. Set on a hillside, allowing you views of the Mediterranean sea this is an excellent area for walking, paths leading around and near the golf course and views of the surrounding orange and lemon groves.
Villamartin is a well established area built close to a golf course which is set on a river bed. The views are fantastic. The lush course contrasts the lime green palm leaves with darker green trees and lawns and is a haven for all kinds of wildlife. The VillamartinPlaza is another favourite with its generous selection of bars and restaurants. Bizarrely families of green parakeets also frequent the plaza.
 
Los Altos and Los Balcones, El Galan, La Florida, Dream Hills, Entre Naranjos, Laderas del Sol and Rocajuna are also just off the direct coastal strip, and many properties have views of the salt flats and lakes either side of Torrevieja. The salt flats have been preserved as parkland and are home to thousands of birds including flamingo.
 
The bustling town of Torrevieja only 10 minutes drive away from most areas in the Orihuela Costa. In the town visitors find a huge variety of entertainment opportunities including Museum of Salt, lovely marina, fairground, submarine and lively evening street market.   Shopping mall and hypermarket just outside the town.

Airports
There are two main airports in the Costa Blanca area and these are Alicante, which is just a 40 minute drive to the property and Murcia/San Javier, which is a smaller airport roughly a 30 minute drive away.   Despite the recent price increases many airlines are still offering low budget flights to this area.   Airport transfers to and from both these airports can be provided at a low cost.  Should you wish to hire a car during your stay we are able to arrange this for you, providing you give us ample notice, or click the link on this website.

Various travel factors can effect the time of your arrival at the property, and if you are arriving later in the day, or on a Sunday or one of the many Spanish bank holidays, we recommend that you consider ordering a 'Welcome Pack'.  We are able to arrange the purchase of essential items which we will put into the property so that they are waiting for you upon your arrival. This service costs just 25 euros and the basic pack consists of: Bread, Butter, Jam, Milk, Water, Biscuits, Tea, Coffee, Sugar, Fruit Juice, Croissants.  Additional items can also be purchased for you on request.
